When Tom Henderson moved to Fort McMurray, he would help out people by offering temporary room and board. One younger French-speaking man, who may not have had perfect English but did have really good shaving cream and let Tom use it when his ran out. He said his father had created it himself from 100 % natural ingredients. It truly was the best shaving cream Tom had ever used so he asked where he could buy it. He told Tom his brother owned the company making this Canadian product but that it was not sold in the area. He introduced him to his brother who said he was now launching a new line of shampoos, a first in 25 years of business. Tom struck a deal with him to buy the company and named the line of shampoos, KARA, after his own niece who was born with a liver disease. From then on, for every bottle sold from the KARA line, 25 cents were, and still are, donated to the Canadian Liver Foundation, as a way of giving back for his good fortune.
